Here's my long term project a 1953 Chevy 210 with the stock 235 and Power glide. The plan is to do a mild custom shaved door handles, nosed, decked, with a two tone paint job golden brown body with a black top, Air ride suspension and a classic pleated interior... This car sat for quite some time in the weeds luckily there was very little rust and with a little TLC she runs!!!
I thought we were off to a great start the old timer I bought the car from claimed to be a great body and paint man but turned out to be a hack and a flake here is what he left me with bear metal with bondo spread over high spots....I was pissed and this guy was a no show for more than 3 weeks and was not coming back ....
Luckily my friend Mr. Walker bailed me out of this bad situation.... With my tight budget and short patients... Walker smoothed out all the poor body work and shot the primer on the body and painted the roof black with gold metallic.
I could not wait to take it for a spin.... so I put the finish work on hold and put the car together enough to drive. Maybe sometime in 2011 I will tear it back down and do all the finish work it needs but for now its fun to drive as is...
I realized I had not taken any pic's of my car since I updated the color (just a base coat to cover the primer for now) so stopped and took some new pic's on my way back from Paso05
here's a few more
AIR RIDE
I know this setup looks a little ruff but it works great I have about 3000 miles on it as of 6.1.06 with no issues. I do plan on taking it all apart soon an cleaning it up. In the front first I installed 2inch lowered uprights and cut the bottom out of the lower A arm and made it deeper so the bag would sit down in the arm. The upper spring pocket is notched and the back side is ground down to clear the bag. (Shock mounts are on the back side of the A arm )
In the rear I notched the frame only as much as needed to lay hard on 205/70/15 ( the tire touches the top of the wheel well at the same time the frame is on the ground ) the notch is just behind the back seat, I raised the drive line tunnel 2 1/2 inches. I made a set of link bars that mounts just like the stock leaf springs off the front leaf spring perch to the axle (Make sure you center the rear wheel in the wheel well with the car in the laid out position) next I added a pan hard bar and shock mounts. Rides Great!
In the trunk the air tank has four 1/2inch outlets on one side I plumed all 8 valves right off the tank. Next I mounted the tank to the rear deck hiding the mess of valves between the tank and the back of the seat
